    Beijing Zoo is China's earliest zoo with the largest number of animal species on display. It raises and exhibits over 500 animal species and over 500 fishes and sea creatures. It is one of the largest zoos in China and also a world-renowned one. It is listed as a National 4A Tourism Scenic Area. Xiyuan Hotel is in close proximity to Beijing Zoo, which is only a short walking distance away.

  • Beijing Zizhuyuan Park

    The Zizhuyuan Park, built in 1953, is located to the west of the Capital Gymnasium. It gets its name from a Ming-Qing-dynasty temple at the northwest of the park, Fuyin Zizhuyuan (Purple Bamboo Temple in Bliss). The park has three lakes, two islets, one dike, one river, and one canal. It is a natural landscape park featuring bamboo exuberance and landscaping. Xiyuan Hotel is about 1 kilometer away from Zizhuyuan Park, which is also within walking distance. The Zizhuyuan Park is free to visit.
